The SavageMan 20.0 Triathlon is a Sprint distance triathlon consisting of a 500 meter swim, 15.5 mile bike, and 3.1 mile run. The SavageMan 20.0 provides the shortest, flattest triathlon of the weekend. The swim takes place in the cool, crystal clear waters of Deep Creek Lake and features and in water start and a sandy beach finish. The SavageMan 20.0 bike course weaves along the lake on a beautiful ribbon of pavement surrounded by forests and farmland. After a quick turnaround at mile 7.5, athletes will fly back to transition. The run course begins with a nice tour of the lakeshore and goes around the Discovery Center. Athletes will then cross State Park Road for a scenic loop of the campground. The campground loop has the biggest hill of the run course, but you might be able to talk a camper out of a s’more on your way through. The last mile of the run course finishes through a cathedral of pines on a nice, level, gravel road leading to the finish line. This is a great course for those that want to race a triathlon, then spend the rest of the weekend riding, hiking, fishing, kayaking, etc. This is a great time of year to be at the lake, in the mountains.
