We’re excited to support the KSQ Mushroom Cap Half Marathon and Relay Event which explores Kennett Square’s landmarks, unique neighborhoods, and growing commerce. The race features an Olympic Start and takes runners on a picturesque journey throughout the mushroom capital of the world. You can hydrate with TailWind Nutrition at 13 themed aid stations along the course and when you cross the finish line, they’ll hand you a finisher’s medal and lead you to the nosh and recovery tent. Immediately following, get your celebration on at the post-race Creamery Event complete with Victory Beer, Live Music and Food Truck Fuel.
When you register be sure and use code SPORTSMOVE and save $5.
The KSQ Mushroom Cap Half Marathon is a rain or shine event. Everyone hopes and plans for sun but if the opposite holds true, have fun running in rain, in wind and in snow. Only extreme weather conditions (i.e. hurricanes or blizzards) will close the event.
“This race is an amazing combination of small town charm, beautiful scenery and extraordinary people, which makes it fun and rewarding for everyone who participates. A premier destination race right here in small town Kennett Square!”

We love runs that contribute back to the community that they are a part of and the Mushroom Cap Half certainly does that. If you need more reason than the beautiful scenery and good organization than read on and see the organizations being supported by this run.
Run2Shine is committed to inspiring healthy lifestyles through action while showcasing the unique community spirit and volunteerism of Kennett Square, PA. Last year runners, sponsors and volunteers worked together with Run2Shine to raise $16,000.00 for local charities: The Family Promise of Southern Chester County, The Youth and Community Garage, The Genesis Employment Foundation and The Grayson Saves Foundation.
This year’s runners will run for underprivileged children. Sponsor and runner dollars will benefit the following charities:
Family Promise, a nationwide movement focused on ending family homelessness. Their name refers to the promise, in sense of commitment, which communities make to families in need. But it also refers to the promise, the potential, inherent in every family. Help us address family homelessness right here in our own communities.
The Garage Community & Youth Center is an after-school program with centers in Kennett Square and West Grove. Their mission is to empower youth to pursue their potential academically, relationally, and spiritually. They serve nearly 500 students annually with tutoring and homework help, one-on-one mentoring, community service and leadership development opportunities, girls and boys programs, and recreational activities.
Since 2001, the Kennett Education Foundation has partnered with the Kennett Consolidated School District to encourage innovative ideas, invest in programs that improve academic progress, promote family involvement and recognize the outstanding achievements of educators.
The Foundation relies on donations to fund the many programs we support. These contributions originate from individuals, businesses (including matching gifts programs), foundations and other organizations (such as the United Way and the Chester County Community Foundation) that align with our mission and the success of our initiatives.
