Our friends at the Virginia Maryland Triathlon Series are putting on a fun and challenging Sprint/International Triathlon this Sunday August 6th, and a Gran Fondo on Saturday August 5th, in Culpeper, VA. The Culpeper Triathlon began in 2005 has grown into one of the most popular races in the Series.
The swim takes place in the clear waters of Mountain Run Lake followed by an exit into the unique transition area that is the Culpeper Triathlon. The transition area, and finish line, are in a bowl surrounded by banked seating on either side. The bike leg is on the rural country roads that are technical at times but have some great straightaways to drop the hammer on. The run takes place entirely on the road and goes down and up the famed Montelago hill for a good challenge.
The International distance is a 1.5K Swim, 24 Mile Bike, and 10K run. The Sprint is 750 meter Swim, 16 Mile Bike, and 5K run. Both distances have an Aquabike option for those not fond of running. These events feature a Tri-Blend Crew Style T-shirts, Custom Race Socks, Finisher’s Medals, Professional DJ, Bounce House and a post-race meal.
Be sure and signup by Tuesday August 1. For more info https://www.vtsmts.com/culpeper/
